Kenora is a beautiful town and a lot hasn’t changed in the last 20 years.

I got to meet the owner of the Pinewood Restaurant & Gift Shop whose name is Ken. We spoke for probably 30 minutes and it was very enjoyable.

Pinewood is known for it’s fudge, and the waterfall in it’s restaurant. It’s a very memorable place. Ken’s wife Pam (I did not get to meet her) makes the MOST amazing fudge ever. And if you’re ever on the way to Kenora from the west you must stop in and get some and tell him Bruce said hello.

So I broke down the other day and finally got a new camera and lens. I haven’t updated my camera equipment in two years so I figured it was time for a little bit of an update.

The new camera is a Canon Rebel T1i, it’s a little different than the Rebel XT that I already own so it’s taking a bit to figure out the menu. Overall I’m impressed with the picture quality and the speed of the camera is much better than the XT.

The new lens is a Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM. I’ve never used a wide angle lens before and I’m pretty impressed with this one. If you’re looking for wide angle I’d suggest this one as it’s quality is on par with Canon’s lens at 60% of the cost.

That brings the corral to the following
Canon Rebel T1i
Canon Rebel XT
Sigma 10-20mm
Canon 18-55mm
Canon 18-55mm
Canon 75-300mm

I’m off to drive around next weekend and I’ll be taking some pictures along the way. I’ll post some nice ones after the weekend.

It’s a LOT harder than I thought it would be, mainly due to the amount of light everywhere.

But I did get some awesome shots, and here’s a few for you to enjoy.

And here is the last image slightly cleaned up, removing some ghosts and smoke to make a more “pure” picture. Sure is photoshopped, but it’s a nicer looking image

Happy birthday Canada!

I consider myself an amateur because while some of my photographs have been published nationally, I do not do photography or videography as a full or even part time business.

I mainly do sports and action photos but have been considering other venues as well. One venue that I do have an interest in is wedding photography. I plan to eventually offer a low cost alternative to wedding photography soon.

I also do video mixing and editing as well and have done a number of videos for various people. I made numerous videos for a sports site and also for a year end video DVD for a number of children finishing their school year.

Also please remember that while my photographs do appear on the internet, they are not copyright free unless otherwise specified.

The camera I use is a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I don’t need to bore people on the specs so I won’t. Needless to say I love my camera and am able to make some great shots with it. If you’re in the market for a good camera I’d suggest the Rebel any day. I’ve taken thousands of shots with it since I purchased it and I’m as happy with it today as I was the day I bought it.

Lenses I currently use are;

Canon 18-55mm

Canon 75-300mm

And I’m in the market for a 500mm lens right now for some long distance shooting.
